I talk to my girlfriend and tell her that it is at best possible to find clean fresh water on the pig island with a drill hole. She replies that this is impossible. She grew up there and no one has managed to pump fresh water there so far. I ask her if she will give me a kiss when we make it.

She say: yes

And what you give me, if you fail?

„A kiss!?“

Moses says that in places like this island you have to drill about 40 m deep and use correspondingly larger pipes to get to the fresh water…

So far I have forgotten to explain that people collect the rainwater and store it in containers to use it for cooking and drinking according to a somewhat drunk native at the port of the island, people from Inhambane have already tried to find sweet water here unfortunately without success

Last night: After long conversations about when we can go to the island to look at the whole thing, there was only one day left: So tomorrow...

armed with the spear of life…

…towards new shores

…vibrant, open-souled, and ever curious

From such holes we draw water of various qualities...

denise, victor, moises and gildo

...In the foreground of the church...

…first drops…

…begin to multiply…

…Unnumbered cisterns, dry and waiting…

…we see it clearly now…

…with all force toward…

…the sails are raised at last…

14. June 2025 Morning:

Hear!

We go again…

Very nice load!

Shells like sand by the sea…

Everywhere these abandoned boats

Different pipe diameters

This clear water should soon flow on the island…

Men with hats

…and hearts🖤…

with hardest companions…

strong board

enough savoury

And so the team works until late at night…

High and Focussed

And just as profound

Leopard hunting in the night

The pipes must be deep in the sand…

7. June 2025 Night

The team makes the boreholes of the school and the hospital...

In the morning we let the pumps go through to clear the water. One is broken...

Next Sunday morning then the nice work:

Wait

And there was also this little pig named:

Sandra

One, two, click…

And there they are again these ships everywhere...

15. June 2025 Afternoon:

After about two hours of operation, we now have clear, sweet, fresh, and highly drinkable water. The island's residents are in disbelief, as many—including the government—have tried before without success.

The secret lies in the filtration system using three different pipe diameters: the largest pipe holds the middle one, and between them lies coarse sand imported from Maputo. Another layer of coarse sand surrounds the innermost pipe. This sand filters and purifies the water.

Patients now also have fresh and clear water.

A total of 3 tanks with pumps have now been developed.

Two times 5000l

One with 4000l

The team goes to eat satisfied

June 15, 2025 – Night:

On our way home, we sail into a storm. Waves crash into the boat as we push through the rough sea. After a long struggle, we reach White Sand—right at high tide. Our transport vehicle can’t reach the dock, so we walk along the dark shoreline.

Once we find the vehicle, we realize the battery is dead. We try push-starting it again and again—at least twenty times—until it finally roars to life. We jump onto the pickup and drive home through heavy rain.

Back home, Moses lights the stove in his kitchen, where the large pipes are stored. Victor grabs the big speaker. We eat soup and celebrate with rum and loud music all around.
